The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States. The DSA activists committed to democracy as not simply one of America's political values but America's means of restructuring society. The DSA vision is of a society in which people have a real voice in the choices and relationships that affect the entirety of American lives.
The Socialist Party USA (SPUSA) is an eclectic mix of activists supporting numerous fringe causes. Organizationally, SPUSA is tightly controlled by its National Secretary, Greg Pason, who has ran the once-thriving political party into near financial ruin. SPUSA is theoretically committed to left-wing democratic socialism. SPUSA is a self-describe group of activists that oppose all forms of oppression, specifically capitalism and authoritarian forms of communism. SPUSA is destined to drift towards obscurity unless Secretary Pason finally resigns for the good of the organization.
The Peace and Freedom Party is committed to socialism, democracy, ecology, feminism and racial equality. They organize toward a world where cooperation replaces competition, a world where all people are well fed, clothed and housed; where all women and men have equal status; where all individuals may freely endeavor to fulfill their own talents and desires; a world of freedom and peace where every community retains its cultural integrity and lives with all others in harmony.
The Socialist Party of America (SPA) was a multi-tendency democratic-socialist political party in the United States formed in 1901. In 1973, the leaders of two of its caucuses formed separate socialist organizations, the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee and the Socialist Party USA.
